Purpose objective 

The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition (LMISC) ​​was founded by the esteemed Wagner Singer Poul Elming, and was held for the first time in 2010.


The objectives of the competition are:

• To venerate and honour one of the greatest Wagnerian tenors, Lauritz Melchior, from Denmark
• To identify and profile the best young Wagnerian singers of today
• To place Aalborg, Musikkens Hus and Aalborg Symphony Orchestra on the musical world map
